These short letters are a follow up to the gospel of John building on the concepts found there. John, as an eyewitness to the life of Jesus, emphasized sharing “the Word of Life” with others that they might be brought into fellowship with God, Jesus and all disciples of Christ. The word for this in Greek is “koinonia,” which means participation or sharing. John’s message is profoundly relevant to our current challenges as Christians as we share in faith and fellowship.
