Whether you've attended church your whole life or you've never been to church at all, we know it can be intimidating visiting a church for the first time.
Below are frequently asked questions that we hope will give you everything you need to know before you arrive. But if you need more information, please do not hesitate to call: 757-722-0006 Monday - Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
We are preparing to re-open the church for worship on June 14. Guidelines are being developed now to insure we can worship safely.
What time do services begin?
Normally, our services are on Sunday at 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM. During the pandemic, our worship services are on YouTube and Facebook. New services are available Sunday at 9:00 am.
Where is the church located?
514 South Armistead Avenue, Hampton, Virginia 23669
Where do I park?
There is a large parking lot with a covered drop off on Victoria Blvd and street side parking in front of the sanctuary entrance on S. Armistead Ave.
What should I wear?
Our 9:30 service is more casual than the 11:00 service, but please wear whatever you're comfortable in. We welcome coat and tie as well as jeans, t-shirts...you get the idea. Come as you are!
What will happen the first time I visit?
As a guest, we want you to feel welcome. We aren’t going to embarrass you by asking you to stand up during the service or anything like that! You will be greeted as you enter and shown where the sanctuary, bathrooms, classrooms, and nursery are - just ask! Refreshments are available inside at the covered drop off entrance - please make yourself at home!
What is a service like?
The 9:30 a.m. service is held in the fellowship hall. It is a contemporary service with a variety of music and is led by our singers and musicians. Coffee is available as you enter the building and in the fellowship hall where our 9:30 service is held. Everything is projected on large screens. Tables are available for families with children.
The 11:00 a.m. service is a traditional style of worship with a choir, organ and piano.
Communion is offered at both services the first Sunday of the month and at special services including Easter and Christmas
Each worship service is about an hour.
What about my kids?
At First Presbyterian, our youth and kids participate in programs that they will absolutely love! We make it easy and fun for them to learn about God, so that the message sticks in a real and practical way. Sunday school is offered from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. each Sunday and the nursery is open from 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
The safety of your kids is our number one priority.
Our volunteers are carefully trained and have passed a comprehensive background check.
