First Presbyterian Church, Hampton, is a dynamic and active Christian community that gladly welcomes all people who long for a transformational experience of faith.

On April 6,1879, twelve people were accepted into the membership of the newly formed Hampton Presbyterian Church, and Samuel Cumming, the founder, was unanimously elected as the first Elder. Originally located on Chapel then West Queen Streets, in 1952, First Hampton moved to its present location on the corner of Armistead and Victoria. The groundbreaking for the sanctuary was held on March 19, 1961 with the sweet children of the church giving the bell for the tower—an exciting gift that still rings today, calling all to worship!

Congregants gather from all walks of life; NASA engineers, teachers, physicians, carpenters, stay-at-home parents, and more. All use their talents in faithful ways, aligning God-given abilities with the visionary work of the church.

With strong leadership and committed ministry teams, FPC flourishes. Our healthy youth and children’s ministries are varied and strong, and adults of all ages grow through small groups, bible studies, and a variety of other opportunities for stretching the soul.

Vibrant worship and strong mission is nurtured by intentional discipleship, that we might shine Christ’s light and share Christ’s love in our neighborhood and beyond.
